Personal Charisma and an Iron Will

Zohran Mamdani is born with a charming Sun in Libra personality with Leo Ascendant.

The newly elected Mayor of New York has a very charismatic personality with Leo rising. He projects confidence and a natural management ability. However, underneath the charm is an intense and radical mind which is capable of transforming the lives of the masses with an iron will.

His Moon in Aquarius shows that the emotional reward comes from mass reform rather than personal gain. It also points to his very independent mother, an acclaimed film director, Mira Nair, who broke many traditions herself. His Aquarius Moon is his humanitarian drive for free healthcare and mental health experts.

Coming from Shia Muslim belief, with his ideals as Hazrat Ali and Imam Jaffer, this will keep the power in check and bring out the best in him. It is the cultural and moral framework that acts as the "inhibitor" of the raw power of the Scorpio stellium. In fact, this is the mechanism that keeps the power in check and transforms a potentially destructive force into a productive revolutionary.

Zohran Mamdani has a deep psychological insight into the mental health and the basis of crime. Instead of using police, he will use mental health experts to deal with and help save thousands of lives.

It is the chart of a powerful leader, who is not really a team player!  With Mercury in Scorpio cnj Mars and sq Saturn, he has tremendous amount of will power, control and power of the mind to influence others. However, he will do it with a smile on his face (Libra Sun sign) and the charisma of Leo rising.

NYC Mayor Election 5 Nov 2025

With Uranus transiting the last degree of his 10th house (sudden fame),  the people of New York voted for Zohran Mamdani as their first Muslim Mayor of New York City.

This was a major upset and historical event as all the billionaires put more than 40 million dollars in their campaign against Mamdani who won with a landslide. Even Donald Trump, or maybe because of his endorsement to Cuomo, couldn't stop Zohran Mamdani from winning with more than one million votes.

Transiting Moon in Taurus in his 10th house of fame made him a household name and every network talking about him.

Saturn transiting his 8th house indicates some difficulty in getting the money they need but Neptune in 8th indicates that he will find very creative ways to raise the funds he needs for free buses and his other major ventures for the city.

Mars transiting his 4th house just shows the move he will be making in his residence.

One of his biggest challenges will be how he deals with authority figures, as he is naturally at odds with them (Mar squ Sat in Aqu). Furthermore, transiting Pluto is now approaching a direct square to his natal Mars and Mercury. This signals that the systemic, powerful forces (Pluto) are just beginning their attempt to stop him, confirming his entire term will be a major battle.

As long as he doesn't underestimate the danger from powerful people, he will be fine and his tenacity will gain him a lot of popularity as well as long-term accomplishment for all of New York City.

This transit shows AI (Pluto in Aquarius) will be central, as will the 'people power' (Aquarius) who are fed up with bureaucracy. Jupiter transiting his 12th house gives some protection in terms of health. Jupiter squ natal Mars gives him the daring, adventurous and windfall timing to take on the huge task as New York's Mayor. However, this aspect also indicates he needs to pace himself.

Fascinating AstroInsight: Both Donald Trump and Zohran Mamdani share a Leo Ascendant, meaning the timing of planetary transits is identical for both of them! This is why their meeting today under a Sagittarius Moon - the same sign the Moon was in when Trump was born. This placed him in his most philosophical, optimistic, and expansive mood.

Imagine if this meeting had happened just two days earlier, when the Moon was in intense, sarcastic Scorpio. The conversation would have been filled with sarcasm, suspicion, and power struggles. A completely different outcome from the same discussion, all dictated by the cosmic clock.
